Justin Bieber And Mark Wahlberg Team Up For Basketball Drama In Today’s Casting Call

Justin Bieber. Mark Wahlberg. On the basketball court. Say hi to your mother for me, alright?!

No, this isn’t a weird “Clue” spinoff we’re engaging in. Instead, it’s the premise of a new basketball drama starring the “Never Say Never” sensation and the superstar actor and producer behind “Entourage” and “The Fighter.” Deadline has the news, saying that Wahlberg will produce and co-star in a b-ball movie with Bieber that’s described as “The Color of Money” meets “The Karate Kid.” Baby, baby, baby ooh indeed.

There’s much more casting news today beyond Wahlberg and Bieber’s full court press. After the jump, learn who’s reportedly in talks for “The Lone Ranger” (hint: not Ryan Gosling) and the identity of one of Superman’s newest foes!

“The Lone Ranger” Holds a Hammer

After the fascinatingly quick revolving door that was Ryan Gosling’s connection to “The Lone Ranger” comes word of a new name: Armie Hammer, late of “The Social Network” and Tarsem Singh’s upcoming “Snow White,” is in early talks to play the gunslinger opposite Johnny Depp as Tonto, according to Deadline.

Kneel Before Zod’s First Lady

Behind every strong Kryptonian man is an even stronger Kryptonian woman, as is the case in Zack Snyder’s upcoming “Man of Steel.” Our pals at Splash Page have the scoop that German actress Antje Traue is in line for the role of Faora, wife of General Zod and opponent of Superman. Her casting isn’t fully confirmed just yet, so stay tuned for more info.

Lynch Those “Stooges”

The Farrelly Brothers may finally have their “Three Stooges,” so it’s time to address other casting needs. And if it’s fresh talent they’re looking for, they could do worse than look towards Fox’s “Glee.” Deadline reports that Sue Sylvester herself, actress Jane Lynch, is set to appear in “Stooges” as Mother Superior, the nun who runs the orphanage where our bumbling heroes grew up.

Cohen’s “Dictator” Recruits New Subordinates

I was already looking forward to Sacha Baron Cohen and director Larry Charles‘ “The Dictator,” a comedy about a vicious ruler who devotes his life towards preventing democracy from interfering with his totalitarian regime. I’m even more excited now that THR reports that “The League” actor Jason Mantzoukas has been cast as Cohen’s sidekick, and the hilarious trio of Kristen Wiig, Anna Faris and Gillian Jacobs are competing for the female lead.
